I am an 8th grade language arts teacher in West Covina. Every day I have over 100, 13 and 14 year-old students grasping for my attention, trying to push my buttons (note: I said trying to!) and overall in need of constant nurturing and support. To say that I need to be on my game is putting it lightly. A few months ago I was suffering from really bad headaches. Because I was suffering, my students ultimately suffered as well. When I was 42 years old I began to have difficult health problems. I developed significant allergies to almost all medications, especially antibiotics. I, then, became sensitive to perfumes, exhaust, and petrochemicals of all kind. Soon, I developed severe food allergies to almost everything I ate. I would go into anaphylactic shock from eating any food except for three types, I met many nice paramedics on my ride to the emergency room when I would accidently discover a new food allergy by my breathing stopping.

I lost 60 pounds in thee months. I was on IV's in the hospital because I could not eat. I developed ventricular arrhythmia. The medication I was supposed to take for it nearly killed me. I could not get enough oxygen as well. My blood oxygen was well below normal and I had to take an oxygen tank with me wherever I went.

My seizure disorder that had been under control for years without medication went out of control again. My medical doctors told me that there wasn't anything they could do for me.

I became depressed and went for psychological help. I did have some issues, but mainly my counselor said I had a reasonable fear of dying, since I had come so close so often.

Being a fighter at heart I tried alternative medicine. I saw an acupuncturist who was helping me and she gave me a coupon for a free consultation with Dr. Buckley. I stuck the coupon in my purse and forgot about it.

This illness affected my family as well. My younger children saw their mother almost die several times. I used to be so involved with their activities and now I could barely walk. My husband was afraid he would come home from work to find me dead. His lively, spunky wife was gone, replaced by a quiet skeletal woman who could barely breathe let alone joke.

My hope had deserted me. I felt I was never going to get better. I might get to heaven but earth was a painful Hell.

I was at the end of my rope but that day I found the coupon for the chiropractic consultation in my purse. I called and made an appointment.

At Dr. Buckley's clinic he listened to my tale of whoa and asked me lots of questions. He examined me and told me that the bone at the top of my neck, the atlas was stuck. He also told me and I felt it that throughout my whole body there was tightness and restriction of motion. He told me he was going to adjust one area and one area only as it might be the key to the other areas. Frankly I thought he was scared to touch me any other area I was so out of sorts. He adjusted my neck and suddenly could breathe! It didn't hurt to draw in the air and I could see better as well. It was as if someone had turned on the lights and turned up the colors. I could move my arms and hands without pain. My body felt warm again. I could breathe without oxygen. It was a wonderful feeling to feel alive!

I continued to come in for regular adjustments. My life changed for the better!. I began to be able to eat more than three foods and now I can eat 15 different foods.

I began to exercise by walking. I now walk a half mile per day and do yoga. I gained 15 pounds.

If I am careful I can do almost anything I wish. My children have their mother back. My husband has his wife again. Knew I was really getting better when I was able t go dancing with him. Now my children do not worry that I am going to die and they treat me like a mom, talking back and pushing the limits and I am so happy. I joyfully pick up after my husband as he had to take care of everything before. Life is beautiful. The simplest things bring me such joy because they were denied to me before.

I still have a heart problem, seizure disorder, and sever allergies, but they are all manageable. It has been a miracle for my family Chiropractic has made a huge difference in my life.
